Description:  What is known as "acme" universally by railroaders on the NS locally, was a brick company to my knowledge. They had a spur here at one time behind me. Here, 23D waits for the fuel truck.

Description:  MDS was crawling over 29th avenue as they pull on it into the KCS yard (south yard). This line is former GM&O/ICG and later Midsouth/KCS before being sold to MDS from Meridian to Waynesboro. This is the last crossing before proceeding into KCS.

Description:  Four trains in 30 minutes is definitely not bad for getting home, showering and going back out- especially in a dreary day. M&B was working and a westbound KCS mixed freight was departing, possibly ARSH or a very early 339.

Description:  Manifest, Shreveport to Artesia gets underway as it comes through the crossovers to switch over to the Artesia sub from the Meridian speedway. This train has to proceed at restricted speed up the signal and out of the yard limits before getting up to track speed.

Another odd day...
Title:  Another odd day...
Description:  While in Meridian we followed an ATDA to Meehan and heard on the radio NSJA was in Hickory after after the hit a tree and another one fell into the train, splitting it in half. ATDA was instructed to hold short of Hickory siding as the NSJA was split with damaged air lines and a broken knuckle. Meanwhile, several KCS men were enroute with chainsaws and a work truck to do spot repairs on the railcars and engine. While it didnt damage the engines, the pieces of tree lodged up in a railcar snagged air lines causing it to rupture and fail. It would take several hours of repair and backing the NSJA into the siding to clear up the line.

Description:  393 would meet a northbound just south of here at a siding called "Basic City" Pronounced "BASS ICK".... Like the fish bass and "ick" LOL. The community is called Basic City as well. With 393 rolling south, A01 would come south behind him on approaches.
